Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 22, 2026
Hooptie IO LLC ("Hooptie," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Hooptie website and mobile application (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
This policy covers two different groups of people. The first is our customers — vehicle dealers who hold a Hooptie account. The second is vehicle sellers, whose public listings we collect and show to dealers, and who are generally not our customers and have no account with us. If you are a seller who wants your information removed, see Section 9.

1. Information We Collect From Customers
Account information. When you register we collect your mobile phone number, which we verify by sending a one-time passcode. We may also collect your business name, base location, and the names and contact details of people you authorize to use your account.
Payment information. Subscriptions purchased on our website are processed by Stripe; subscriptions purchased in our iOS app are processed by Apple. We receive confirmation of your subscription status and limited billing details. We never receive or store your full card number.
Usage data. We collect how you interact with the Service, including the searches and deal engines you create, filters you apply, vehicles you view and save, listings you move through your pipeline, and features you use.
Content you create. Notes, tags, and the pipeline and opportunity records you build in the Service.
Device information. Device type, operating system version, app version, device identifiers, and push notification tokens.
Location information. The city, state, and postal code you provide when setting up deal engines, and your business's base location. We use these to define search areas and measure distance. We do not collect precise or background GPS location.
Support and assistant interactions. Messages you send to support, and the questions you ask our in-product AI assistant.
2. Information We Collect About Sellers
The core of the Service is collecting vehicle listings that sellers have posted publicly on third-party marketplaces, forums, and classifieds, and presenting them to dealers. In doing so we collect information about sellers, who are usually not our customers.
From public listings we collect:
- Listing content — description, asking price, mileage, vehicle details, and photographs;
- The seller's display name, and a phone number or other contact details where the seller has published them in the listing;
- The approximate location shown on the listing, such as city and state;
- The listing's URL, posting date, and the platform it appeared on.
We also generate information about a listing using automated analysis, including:
- A vehicle identification number (VIN) and, in some cases, a license plate read from a photograph in the listing, which we may use to look up vehicle specification and history information;
- Vehicle history and title information obtained from third-party data providers;
- An estimated market value for the vehicle;
- An assessment of whether the listing appears to come from a private owner or from a dealer or reseller.
We collect this information for our legitimate business purpose of operating a vehicle-sourcing tool for licensed dealers. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell seller contact information to data brokers or list vendors. Dealers who use the Service are contractually required to use seller information only to pursue a vehicle acquisition, and not to resell it or add it to marketing lists.
3. How We Use Information
- To provide, operate, secure, and improve the Service;
- To find, rank, value, and present vehicle listings that match your criteria;
- To verify your identity using one-time passcodes;
- To process subscriptions and payments;
- To send deal alerts and service messages by push notification, email, or text;
- To send marketing messages where you have agreed to receive them;
- To provide support and respond to your requests;
- To analyze usage and improve our models, features, and accuracy;
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and technical problems;
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We may create aggregated and de-identified information — data that does not identify any person or business — and use it for any lawful purpose, including market reporting and improving our valuation models. We do not attempt to re-identify it.
4. Automated Processing & AI
The Service relies heavily on automated processing. We use machine learning and third-party artificial intelligence providers to read listing text and photographs, identify vehicles, estimate values, assess condition, classify whether a listing appears to be from a private owner, and power our in-product assistant.
When you use the assistant, your questions and relevant account data are transmitted to a third-party AI provider to generate a response. We do not authorize these providers to use your information to train their general-purpose models.
These automated assessments are estimates and can be wrong. They do not produce legal or similarly significant effects about any individual, and we do not use them to make decisions about credit, insurance, employment, or housing. If you believe an automated assessment about you is inaccurate, contact us at support@hooptie.io.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information for money. We share information as follows:
- With dealers. Seller and listing information, as described in Section 2, is shown to the dealers who subscribe to the Service.
- Service providers. Companies that help us operate the Service under contract, including cloud hosting and storage, Stripe and Apple for payments, Twilio for text messaging, email delivery providers, third-party AI providers, and vehicle data providers. They may use the information only to perform services for us.
- Advertising and analytics partners on our marketing website, as described in Section 6.
- Legal reasons. Where required by law, legal process, or a governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Hooptie, our customers, or others.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case we will require the recipient to honor this policy or notify you of any change.
6. Cookies, Analytics & Advertising
Our marketing website (hooptie.io) uses cookies and similar technologies, including the Meta Pixel and Google Ads conversion tracking, to measure the performance of our advertising and to reach people who have visited our site. These technologies may collect identifiers such as your IP address, browser and device details, and the pages you visit, and may share them with Meta and Google. Under California law, this may be considered "selling" or "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. See Section 8 for how to opt out.
Our signed-in product (the Hooptie web app and iOS app) does not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers. Usage analytics inside the product are our own and are not shared with advertising networks.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals on our website as a valid request to opt out of sale and sharing.
7. Your Choices
- Text messages. Reply STOP to any marketing text to opt out. Transactional messages such as one-time passcodes will continue. See our SMS Terms.
- Email. Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
- Push notifications. Turn them off in your device settings or in the app.
- Account information. Update your details in the Service, or contact us for help.
- Advertising cookies. Use your browser controls or a GPC-enabled browser, or the opt-out tools offered by Meta and Google.
8. California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended gives you the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, sell, or share, and access a copy of it;
- Request deletion of personal information we hold about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information;
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information;
- Not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights.
In the past twelve months we have collected the categories of personal information described in Sections 1 and 2 — identifiers, commercial information, internet activity, approximate geolocation, and, for sellers, information contained in public listings including photographs. We disclose these categories to the service providers listed in Section 5, and we disclose seller and listing information to subscribing dealers. Advertising cookies on our marketing website may constitute sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not knowingly collect or sell the personal information of anyone under 16.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@hooptie.io with the subject line "Privacy Request." You do not need a Hooptie account to make a request. We will verify your request using the information you provide, such as the phone number or listing involved, and we will respond within the time the law requires. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with proof of authorization. Residents of other states with comparable privacy laws may make the same requests using the same address.
9. If You Are a Vehicle Seller
If your vehicle listing appears in Hooptie and you would like it removed, email support@hooptie.io with the subject line "Listing Removal" and include a link to the listing or enough detail for us to identify it. You do not need an account, and you do not need to explain why.
On request we will remove the listing and the associated seller information from the Service. Removing your listing from the original marketplace will also cause it to drop out of the Service over time, but emailing us is faster and more complete. If a dealer has already contacted you through the platform where you posted, that conversation is between you and that dealer, and you should contact them directly about it.
10. Data Retention
We retain account information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations. After termination you may request an export of your content as described in our Terms.
We retain listing and seller information for as long as it is useful to the Service — an active listing, and a limited period afterwards so dealers keep a record of vehicles they pursued and so our valuation models retain market history. When it is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it. Information removed at a seller's request is deleted promptly.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and restricted internal access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@hooptie.io.
12. Children's Privacy
The Service is a business tool intended for licensed dealers and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Third-Party Platforms
The Service links to and displays content from third-party marketplaces, forums, and websites that we do not control. Their privacy practices are their own, and any interaction you have with a seller or a platform outside Hooptie is governed by that platform's policies, not this one.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy here with a revised "Last updated" date, and for material changes we will provide additional notice by email, in-app notice, or text message.
